So what kind of projects do I do?

Knitting and Crochet - I’ve been doing both crafts since Fall 2007, so almost 19 years now! Eight years into the crafts, I started making gaming-related softies and other items. My first attempts were… not that great, to be honest, but I’m pleased to say I’ve much improved since then. Not only do I make patterns by others, but I design my own patterns! I’m thrilled to say that my work is good enough to have been chosen as a finalist in the 2023 Final Fantasy XIV North America Fan Art Contest. Click here to see my gaming crafts!

Fanscript Writing - So yeah, I’m a huge fan of the Final Fantasy franchise, and I’ve played/am playing some of the ongoing games. And it is the destiny of ongoing games to shut down eventually. Okay, so both MMOs (FFXI and FFXIV) are still going, the mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius which I formerly played, has indeed seen End of Service. So I’ve been working on projects to document these games in the form of fanscripts! Little did I know when I started that FFBE (well, season 1 at least) would come back to life as Final Fantasy Resonance, which REALLY EXCITES ME OMG! But I still intend to work on my fanscripts. Fanfic - I’ve dabbled in writing some! My work so far has been short, fluff/crack one-shots, but I have fun with it, and people seem to like it. You can find my work mirrored on this site, here or at Ao3 and SquidgeWorld.

Twitch - SO. I am neurodivergent and have social anxiety, and in general am not very brave. To work on my bravery and anxiety, I decided to start streaming on Twitch.

Folks, I was SO NERVOUS that first stream! But I did it! I went live! I chose to play replay the Hildebrand quests in Final Fantasy XIV on my catboy alt, because they are relaxing and silly. The first stream was a success, hooray!

I wish to say I took to it like butter on bread, but really, it took me several months to find my comfort zone. I didn’t really sprout until I decided to replay the Final Fantasy XIV Main Scenario Quest on an alt. Once I did that, I was off and Twitching regularly.

It’s been five years, and I’m still at it. I’m a VERY tiny streamer. Sometimes it’s just me on the stream. But I try to keep talking anyway, and really, that’s not hard to do because I LOVE these games and want to share them with others.

As of this writing, I’ve been streaming on Friday and Saturday evenings. My start time is around 7:30pm Central US time, and I try to go for about three hours. Currently, I’m streaming Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess on Fridays, and Kingdom Hearts II on Saturdays. You can find me on Twitch at AltheaValara or right here on my Stream page
