I have long said that Final Fantasy Brave Exvius’s story is on par with the numbered games, and one of the reasons that’s true is because of its wonderful characters. Especially Lasswell, my favorite. He is a hard worker, dedicated to improving his skills, and would do anything for Rain. Because I adored him so much, I had to make him.
The doll itself is based on the Audrey Doll pattern by Neogurumi. Audrey is a female doll, so I altered the pattern to make it more masculine. But the coat was my own design. I tried to make it A-line. Not sure I succeeded, but I had fun with it, and am pretty pleased with how it (and the doll) turned out.
I did the legs on my own before reading the Audrey pattern, so my legs aren’t as big around. That actually worked out well, I think, as this doll is male and I didn’t want him to have a really wide body. I did not do any decreases in the body for waist/chest shaping because again, male.
I did the arms following the Audrey pattern. Doing the shoulders took much math and trial and error since I had a different amount of stitches than the Audrey pattern, but I eventually figured it out.
I did one less round of increases on the head, and made the head a bit longer with extra even rounds.
The doll took 8 hours and 7 minutes to crochet, and the coat took 8 hours and 24 minutes to knit.
